Considered one of the greatest players from the “golden era” of foosball, push-kicking Texan Steve Simon was inducted into the Foosball Hall of Fame in a heart-felt ceremony held at the recent season opener in Las Vegas. Simon, who was a star on two different styles of table during his remarkable career, became the twentieth former player, promoter or contributor to be elected into the prestigious hall, which recognizes the individuals who set the early standards and helped to pave the way for today’s top performers.

A rare crossover player, Simon’s lifetime record includes numerous victories on on both the Tournament Soccer and Tornado foosball tours in both the singles and doubles style of competition. In 1975 Steve won the Open Singles titles at both the International Championships on T.S. and the Nationals on the Tornado tour, a feat no one in the history of the sport has ever accomplished. In 1977 Steve claimed the national singles title on Tornado while winning mixed doubles honors at both the World Championships and Super Singles events on the Tournament Soccer tour.

During a relatively short but successful career, this great Texas fooser used his technically precise offensive three row and intense but calm approach to the game to win several other major titles while finishing second in many of the sport’s biggest early events. With his induction Steve also became the first practitioner of the “push-kick” series ever named to the Foosball Hall of Fame.

Today Steve works in the high tech industry and still plays an occasional game of foosball in his home town of Austin, Texas.
