Top 40 Foosball Cities (Netfoos)
« on: July 01, 2008, 12:56:51 PM »
Well half the year is over and here are the top foosball cities.  Make sure to ask your promoter to add your city to the list.  It is great FREE site that helps fooser find foosball and keep track of local results.

Hi Daniel,

What do you go by to identify the top net foos cities?  Is it number of tournaments or what?

Thanks

Well I do not set the rules I just posted the data.  Here is how they rate the cities

Below are the "Top Forty Most Active NetFoos Accounts " for 2008 (view 2007 summary). The chart below is updated in real time and the "rankings" are based on four main categories: Total number of Tournaments, Events, Players and Photos.

I do run the Tucson Arizona events #6 and Sierra Vista #39.

I like that KC is ranked 7 but that is only because we have a bunch of pictures posted...I have a lot more and if I post enough, we could be number 1 which doesn't seem fair when you look at the payouts and number of events and players other places have

a couple of questions...

are these stats current year
when it says "players" is that everyone they have signed up or is it only people that have played in tournaments?
looks like money is ongoing, can it show only current year?

I think NetFoos is the best thing to happen to foosball since InsideFoosProductions so I am in no way critical of anything...what  you have done in my opinion ranks with the best things done in foosball HISTORY

with that said, if you are going to rank the cities, there is no perfect method but here are a few things I think I would add to level out the playing field

Players are not just those on the books but those who have played in current year (name can only count once)
Dollars same thing, only current year - if that is the case, include dollars as part of the calculation for ranking
number of events is fine but this is potentially scewed by population of area
add average number of players per event as a category
don't allow pictures to count the same as a player...I could download 600 pics and be number one and that would not be fair

it would take some work and you might not feel it is worth it but here is an idea on how to even out the playfield which is after all what local DYP's are all about right?

Current Year total payout / 100
+
Current Year total number of unique players
+
Current Year total number of Tournaments / 10
+
Current Year Total number of Events / 10
+
Current Year Total number of players signed up for all events / Total number of Events = Avg player per event
+
Photos * .05 (= 5 point per 100 pictures)

Here is link to how the top cities are ranked.

I also agree that pictures should not affect the rank or at least not as much.

add average number of players per event as a category

This is the best idea I've seen yet. Anyplace that averages 10-15 teams or more consistently is a top foos city in my books.

Funny how St Louis is #17, yet produced zero payout. That is hardcore foosball dedication!  ;D

that is probably because someone was worried about declaring making money or just didn't want to take the time to add the amounts in but more likely the later

You're obviously mistaken, BBT!  Everyone knows the Treasury department has no interest in organized foosball sports, calcuttas, or what-not.  They have better things to do, especially with the record that national foosball events have garnered over the years.  Those drug rumors and secret payouts are all a myth.  Just ask any guy or gal on the street (the ones with the shopping carts, trench coats and used Swifter boxes) and they'll tell you the REAL EVIL is with the underground betting on Little League soccer, infesting the nation as a whole.

Oh, so you're talking to the same people huh?  But that's just a rumor about illicit lemonade sales, especially the add-on sales of juice paraphernalia.  But keep under your hat!  8)

And that thing about kids raising money to build that UFO landing strip is just as hokey!  So watch your sources!!

there is a underground "black market" for sales on Lemonade Stand lemons and it is rumored that they coming over the border illegally

the Lemon lobbyists are busy trying to legalize the sale of Lemonade Stand lemons (LSL) and it is argued that there is a medical use for LSL and is proven in many studies to be shown to improve a person pucker – fertility among LSL users is 76% higher than non-LSL users

This key issue is rising to the surface and is sure to be a major part of the upcoming Presidential debates

More and more evidence is surfacing that LSL is the real reason for the financial crisis we now face

McCain wants to deregulate and allow the free market to determine the future of LSL and (in the background you hear humming of the National Anthem) he says that the US national security hangs in the balance – ah hahum, and , McCain says, “And by the way for which I served (humming grows louder and pictures of 911 flash in the background, opps that is one of his 6 no 7 houses, ops that is a middle school in Washington, back to 911 pics and loud humming) as a upstanding military officer including being tortured as a POW and I know more about National Security than anyone on the planet and if you don’t want terrorists in your living room you will elect a person who has been tortured for their country”

Obama says McCain has a record of voting for tax breaks for the big corporate LSL dealers and as always, as those damn Republicans are want to do, they continue to favor the rich and big business – Obama notes that nowhere does McCain mention the middle class and Obama says there will be change when he takes office (Martin Luther Kings “I have a dream speech” begins in the background) and there will be a lemon in every refrigerator regardless of your status - special attention will be given to the MIDDLE CLASS (there I said it) and Obama says, “Did I mention that I am an African American, well sort of, not that this makes any difference mind you, but I know what is like to live impoverished.”
