ITSF Rules
differences from Bonzini USA Rules:
[Note: where a ball is put back into play following a violation (i.e., either 2 rod or 5 rod) can vary depending on the violation= - I haven't tried to list those here.]
Can't lube inner rods, just outer = rods.
Final game of a match is win by 2 (up to 8 points max). [Tournament Director can cancel this rule]
The match starts when the first ball has been put in p= lay (not when coin flipped), although cussing etc can still be called when both team are at the table
Serve must start from ball stopped on MIDDLE man on 5 = row. Opponent has 3 seconds to respond when you ask if they're ready, and you have 3 seconds from when they answer ready to put the play into play. You have to "wait" 1 second after touching the se= cond man before you can pass or shoot, but you do NOT have to "stop" b= all for the 1 second (time limits begin 1 second after touching 2nd man).
Serves go to team last scored on (i.e., not alternatin= g)
Ball off table only if it strikes score markers or any object not part of table (i.e. top of red stripe or end wood etc is still in play if ball "immediately" falls back on table)
If ball is knocked off table by the power of a player'= s shot or pass it is put back into play at the opponents 2 rod (i.e., not re-serve= d on 5 row).
Deliberate air ball shots are illegal.
Dead balls go to the nearest 2 rod; unless is dead bet= ween the 5 rods in which case it is reserved on the 5 rod (by team that original= ly served the ball).
Penalty for calling a 3rd timeout: If your team has ba= ll you lose possession to opposing 5 rod (and don't get the time out), if your team doesn't have ball it's a warning. Subsequent violations are technicals. Third time out (by either team) "automatically" charged due to de= lay of game, requesting a 2nd official during play, etc is a technical.
Requesting a 2nd official after playing with 1 officia= l is charged as a time out.
Balls scored but inadvertently not counted can be coun= ted (if both teams agree) at any time during the game, not just before the next point is scored (won't be counted after the game).
A ball scored by spinning is reserved by scored on tea= m at 5 bar (not at goalie bars).
On technical shot for touching flying ball over table:= If technical shot scores opposing team gets serve, if not scored team shooting= the technical gets the serve.
If teams switch sides, they must continue to switch si= des for the rest of the match.
90 seconds (instead of 1 minute) between games.
Tornado spin rule (i.e., rollovers legal).
Practicing is allowed between games. Also, practicing = is now defined as moving the ball from 1 man to another or shooting the ball, not = just moving the ball.
Pinned balls (to playfield or wall) considered "stopped" so far as passing is concerned (i.e., no 1 man pin pass= es even if the ball is moving while pinned under the man).
If ball touches the front or back of the foot prior to= the motion of a pass it must touch 2 men before it can be legally passing - i.e= ., the "touch" is considered similar to pinning the ball (the touch on initial contact with the ball from another rod does not count as a touch).<= /p>
Ball can't touch the 5 bar side walls more than twice = before passing or shooting (i.e., bouncing off the wall 3 times in total and then passing/shooting is illegal unless the 3rd time the ball hits the wall is w= hen the ball is moving forward in a shot or pass) You can call a time out after= the 3rd bounce with the ball still on your 5 man to reset the number of bounces. (Note: defensive trap doesn't count as 1 of the walls). Touches against the wall when putting the ball back in play before touching the second man don't count.
Technical Shot: If shot is scored the ball is served b= y team scored on; if not scored is put back to where it was when technical was cal= led.
Prohibited clothing includes clothing displaying any k= ind of profanity, tank tops, or denim of any kind (e.g., jeans). However, it's up = to the tournament director to determine whether or not the dress code has been broken and what the appropriate penalty is.
