WELL HELLO BRUCE LONG TIME NO SEE OR HEAR, HOPE YOU ARE OK. I THINK I AM GOING TO BRING THE PUSH OUT OF RETIREMENT. I MISS THE GAME . TAKE CARE BUDDY . TTYL THE PUSH MASTER HIGH POINT N.C
-
I am thinking of taking the bold step of attending this event - It would be my first tourney ever.
Somebody talk me into it. (It wouldn't take much)
-
Todd,
This will be a good tournament to attend.
But this year's NC State will be the largest.
It will be the 35th Annual NC State Foosball Championship.
The first weekend in October.
Come to both.
-
I would like to make it to both. Timing is an issue though - not to mention the plane flight costs.
I think I will take the opportunity to go to this one and see what things look like in October. I'm pretty excited and looking forward to taking in the tourney experience.
Any first timer advice?
-
Hey Alan
I have a question for you regarding the milling of the players feet. I have my original set of player figures that have a custom "France vs Portugal" paint job and would like to use them on my table. Do you bring your tools/equipment to make the modifications or is this something you do back in NC?
-
T
Todd,
I do it back in NC.
It's pretty simple to take the rod off and send the assembly to me.
Depending on my schedule I can usually do a quick turn around.
You'll only need to pay for shipping.

Hi Alan
Thanks for the response.
By the way, will you be attending the SC event? - or will you still be in Puerto Rico :( . I was hoping you would be there such that we can finally meet. If not, I guess it will have to wait until October.
I also had a few questions regarding the tourney:
How difficult is it to wrangle partners for the doubles events? I'd like to play in every event humanly possible and would need some unsuspecting victims willing participants to team up with in Novice, Mixed and Open doubles.
What is 3200 Ltd Doubles? - my guess is that teams must have less than 3200 points combined in the Bonzini USA rankings. Am I close?
Should I bring my own handles?
I'd appreciate any info you (or anyone else out there) can pass along.
regards
Todd
-
Todd,
- Getting partners at Bonzini USA events is usually not difficult. I plan on making the trip (novice) without partners for anything, have done so in the past, and have never been disappointed.
- You are correct about 3200 limited doubles, with the additional comment that this one's a no-masters as well.
- Alan has no problem with players bringing their own handles, I bring my own to his events.
I only jumped in because I know Alan has limited computer access while in PR, and wanted to get you answers ASAP. Hope to see you in SC.
Tyler
-
I don't have an Open Doubles partner. I am a member of the SCFPA.
Let me know if you are interested.
Alan will be there.
Rebecca Terry
-
Hey Tyler - thanks alot for the info and you will see me there. I've booked my flight and am raring to go!
Hi Rebecca -
South Carolina Foster Parent Association?
Société canadienne-française de Prince Albert?
Both respectable organizations but I'm guessing you mean the "South Carolina Foosball Players Association" (Is that right?)
Anyway - I graciously accept your offer (or were you making the offer to Tyler). Of course you have the option of dropping me if I don't think I'm up to the task once you see me play. I'll be playing the Novice on Friday and you can get a peak.
Thanks again to both of you
Todd
-
Todd,
Offer was to you and I'm glad you accepted. I will be there about 5:30 on Friday when I get off work.
Let me know if you want to play forward or goalie, I'm fine with either one.
See you there,
Rebecca
-
Hey Rebecca
Sounds great. I like both but prefer forward - maybe we'll see how it goes and switch around as required. I haven't booked my hotel yet but will be staying at the Fairfield Inn (as noted above).
See you at registration
Todd (Williams)
-
Thanks for the assitance T-Man and Rebecca,
Just got to a terminal to catch up.
Todd,
Definately bring your own handles. We've gone to the European mode of setting up the tables without the handles. And for those of you that didn't know already, even though the tables will not have handles we will sign out handles for your match when called if you do not own any.
I'll definately be there and looking forward to touching a table again.

**Bump**

Nice bump.
Almost 30 days without foosball.
Get me to a table >:(
AC
-
Rebecca,
I sent you a PM. Thanks
Tyler

Got it and replied. See you there.

Friends,
With less than a week to go, I must say I've been looking forward to this tournament for quite some time. I have always been glad to help support the Jimmy V Foundation for cancer research and the Hospice of the Shennandoah Valley (2 Bonzini USA causes that have affected my life directly) and to know this weekend we will also be making a contribution to help fight Alzheimers (another topic of direct impact to me and my family) makes it all the sweeter. I have been practicing and I don't know how much game I'll bring, but to know however I play another personally important charity will be the ultimate beneficiary...the way it should be.

I have decided I should go to this tournament! Haven't played Bonzini for a few months, need my fix :)
See you all Saturday!!
-
would love to play in tournament never have but pretty good
-
Pat,
If you do go, let's try our hand at 3200 ltd, if you don't have a partner for that one yet.
I am really looking forward to this one!!
Take care...................................Tyler
-
I am definitely going, got my flight and rental car reserved. Unfortunately, I already have a partner for the doubles events. I have convinced my buddy to play (he should be pretty rusty as he hasn't touched a table in over a year). But, since he lives in SC, it was a good excuse for a trip down, visit with him, and get in some foos!
See you Saturday morning!
Pat Ryan
-
Pat,
Safe travels and I look forward to some pick up games!
Tyler
-
Tyler,
Definitely some pick-up games, looking forward to it. It will be great to see you again, it has been what... 3-4 years?
Pat
-
Pat,
Our last handshake was in January, 2006 when you traveled to my 4th annual (and final) Foosball for Quigley tournament, right outside of Jacksonville. Mr. Waterman made that trip as well - is he going to make it down for this one?
Take care...............................Tyler
-
Hey Tyler
I love the buzz of posts regarding this tourney. Keep me in mind if you're looking for a partner for some of the doubles events. I'll be playing with Rebecca for open doubles but otherwise I'm available.
regards
Todd
-
I don't think Mr Waterman will be in attendance for this one.
Pat
-
Todd,
Joe T. and I are playing Novice Doubles and possibly one other event. Maybe you and I could do 3200 LTD. I wonder if Rebecca is committed for mixed doubles yet? I'd really like to play that event (never have!) but expect it will be tough finding a partner, especially for an out-of-towner like me.
See you soon.......................................................Tyler
-
Hey,
I'm sorry I have a partner for the Mixed. I hope some women players show up. See you there.
Rebecca
-
Hey Tyler
Pairing up for 3200 ltd sounds great. I'm sure that adding our points together we'll just squeeze in under 3200!! ;)
It sounds like women partners for mixed are at a premium. Maybe we'll have to "work" the bar on Friday night to find some volunteers.
See y'all soon
Todd

Got back to the mainland at 10:30 pm last night.
We've packed the trailer today and will head out at 9:00 am.
I should have the tournament room set and ready to go by 5:00 pm.
Looks like there will be a lot of new players showing up for this event.
It will be a great opportunity to extend some Bonzini U.S.A. tournament hospitality and some SC Foosball fun. We expect a lot of spectators to be travelling through so be ready to help explain what the events are about and why we are there. Bobby Brown was on Rock 102.3 this afternoon for an event interview and Lea Cooper the Marketing Director for the Carolina Ale House was on the local ESPN radio afternoon show also plugging the event.
I'm looking forward to seeing Todd, Tyler and Pat. And giving Rebecca a hug for her help with getting the players informed.
Weather should be nice, but dress fro warm conditions. The CAH area we are playing in is open-air.
Good luck to next South Carolina State Foosball Champions!

Does that mean I can unpack my parka?
