There's no reason to mix it up unless you're getting blocked.  Good players will stick with their best option as long as it keeps working.  I'm a pull shooter, and I have a fair number of options.  But if the goalie is leaving the long open all the time, I'm going to keep bombing it until they show some respect.  No point in forcing a tighter split until they've opened up the defense to block the long.  Snake shooters are generally the same; just keep hitting the corner on your strong side if the defender isn't blocking it.

So if the opponent is repetitive, it's probably because your defense is leaving the same option a lot.  Force them to get some style!
