Title: Spinning :-/
Post by: bcjordan on April 03, 2006, 06:57:39 PM
I'm not a huge fan of the new trend of the wrist-spinning shot.

It's too mechanical and makes the game run too choppy. Anyone else wish this wasn't illegal?

hiya, the shot is called a snake or roll over shot. if you look at lildaves comment on 360 degress as spinning you get a idea of the shot if not go back one page and see the answers about the shot.happy foosin   (if you cant beat them join them) :)   ::)

bc, unfortunately for you the Snake is tied with the pull shot for the #1 shot on tour. It is a very hard shot to master, and if done correctly can be devastating to your opponent.

You might want to change your mind ;D

I find that folks who don't like the rollover are the ones getting burnt by it. Not giving the other guy a chance to use it is one of your most viable solutions to make it illegal.  ;D A recent argument at work was that it was a spin after I scored with it. A fellow foosball player standing behind me (who also shoots "snake") stuck his right arm over my right shoulder and in a very unsportsmanlike manner told my opponent to "spin on this."
I never looked up to see what he was talking about. Never take your eyes off the ball  ;)

in shooting/advancing the ball,,, this is what is allowed::

[....rotate/spin rod 360 degrees...] "strike the ball" [....rotate/spin rod 360 degrees...]

360 degree (1 revolution ) is all that is allowed ,if you exceed the 360 degrees before striking or after striking its illegal

Ahhh, the snake shot. ;) The snake is great once you learn to master it (which I've yet to do, but have been getting much better!) The key to defending it is to constantly keep the offense guessing. Remember, you can't cover the entire goal at once, but you can creat the illusion that you're doing so. :D Figure out where the offense likes to shoot his/her snake, and then spend a higher percentage of the time defending those areas (but don't neglect the rest of the goal, as the offense will quickly figure that out.) Otherwise, practice the snake and get good at it...It's one of the best shots out there!  :P
