Does anyone know for how long Bonzini has been offering the rustic finish? Is this a relatively new finish?
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
I got mine 10 years ago.

Thanks Tyler, that pushes it back a bit. I'm debating on whether or not to refinish my '72 B60 in rustic. I really like that look a lot but I'm sort of struggling with the notion of keeping the finish period-appropriate, or at least nearly period-appropriate.
I know, I should refinish it however I want, but I'm such a purist :-)

Kevin,
If you're good at refinishing wood, that would be cool to do. I know that the rubber strips on the top of each cabinet side are heat treated before installation (to get them in place) and the rustic model uses gold strips whereas the regular finish has orange ones. Unless you can get the orange replaced with gold, I'd pass on the refinishing. The rustic with orange strips would look pretty bad. Just a cautioning thought to put out to you.

Yes, I agree the gold side strips are essential to the whole look. I was talking to Gloria Cribbs and it sounds like they can order them so I may end up doing that. One benefit of the darker finish is that it would hide some of the cigarette burns that may be hard to sand out :-)

The Black rails look sexy. Mike Giles has a Black rails and it looks great.

Hi Alan,
Very interesting. The only black rails I have seen are on the custom paint job tables. Is Mike's a regular finish?
Kevin

No, his was a custom build. He had special figurines added.
Want me to bring a set of Black Saturday to look at?

Hi Alan,
Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll stick with Red or Gold - my cabinet finishing skills are pretty rudimentary and I doubt I could make a finish that would work with black!

A couple of questions re: the rustic finish:
1. If you own a rustic finish table, would you mind telling me how close the linked photo from Alan's website comes to matching your finish? I know different computer monitors have different color balance, but any info can help. (also I have a macbook, so if you do too, all the better!)

2. Second question is aimed at Alan, or anyone else who might know. Do you know what the actual stain is that they use for the rustic finish? Any chance this is order-able?
Thanks!

Kevin,
PM me your email and I'll send you some photos.

Thanks Tyler, just sent you a PM.

I'll try to find out a code number from France.
Otherwise, any paint store should have a stain chart sample to go by.
