Title: 5 man
Post by: Wells5252 on May 17, 2006, 12:16:28 AM
Obviously the most important and hardest to master rod is the 5 man. Can anyone give any tips or practice ideas on how to get better. I know tic tac and brush pass and everything but it is all easier said than done. I recently got some DVDs of the Las Vegas season opener. It is amazing on how they can pass and catch so easily while hitting the ball so hard.

Practice the tic-tac with your eyes closed, you will develop a rhythym of your own. When you get comforatable with that try mixing in a hard stick pass on the wall. Crisp and hard and always keep your near man on your 3-rod against the wall and in angled catching position. Make sure your grip on your 3-rod is light so you don't loose the ball behind you and to his 5 rod. Repeat Repeat Repeat.

Good Luck

work on ball control...if you can tick tack the ball well and then practice passing lane and wall... get creative with it... have fun....

i saw a form of AMAZING passing with 5 man... the guy somehow did a wall pass, but the ball did not bounce off the wall, instead it rolled ALONG the wall.  The defender's 5man was tucked against the wall already but the ball slipped in between the guy's "waist" (above the foot and below the shoulder of the man) and the wall.  Is that a legit pass?  How do you block that?

it is somthing that does not happen often...and i dont think anyone can do it consistently..(not on tornado tables anyway) but yea the ball kicks up over the foot of the guy it is neat... yes it is legit... when doing a wall ball you should try to keep the ball on the wall when you pass...
