Hey folks,
I'm relatively new to the area from CO and looking to pick up where I left off. Anybody know of any Tornado tables in the Raleigh/Durham, NC area? Maybe some other folks out there looking to get together and play?
I know of one Tornado table at Fullsteam in Durham, but I don't know of any regulars who play there. Anybody in Durham want to get a game going there?

Is this Ray? Didn't we just play at Bub's in Chapel Hill?

lolol

Sure enough!
For anyone else who comes across this, Bub's in Chapel Hill has a wonderful T-3000 to play on (as well as a Bonzini table there).

Only a few tornado players in the area. It's difficult to get a consistent turn out of players. As far as I know, Bubs and Fullsteam are your only choices for Tornado. I have a upgraded Grey marble at my apartment in Raleigh, but it will be packed away until the Montreal Bonzini tournament in September. We do have a strong Bonzini player base, that competes in a weekly dyp on Friday nights @ Fat Daddy's Restaurant.

Pipe down JUNIOR! LOL! I got this. Hopefully Ray should be joining us at Fullsteam or Bub's tomorrow night, wherever we decide to play. He likes the rollover but can really use some coaching on the push side. I'd ask you to help him out but your rollover push is weaker than my toe push, and we both know that speaks volumes.

Yeah, it's funny. In CO you're hard pressed to find a Bonzini table anywhere, but out here it's quite the opposite.
That being said, I'm pumped to get to play some competitive Tornado tonight!

I'm in Raleigh and would be interested in playing in the area. I haven't played much in 20 years but just recently bought a grey marble tornado trying to get some friends into playing. I had heard there were people playing out at Fat Daddy's in Raleigh but not sure I'd be ready for the level of play at very competitive levels - I'm a weak amateur that grew up playing in the bars in Buffalo and never any organized competitions.

Hey Rick, we're glad to have you in the area. The tournaments at fat daddys are played on Bonzini tables, which are very different from Tornado tables. You should give it a try, while we do have very good players; we also have beginner players. Because of this, we typically have A/B draw your partners. This way the newer players can play and learn from the more experienced. If you are only interested in playing tornado then there is a group that plays on Thursday nights in Durham or Chapel Hill, this is a less competitive group that mostly plays pickup games all evening. Send me a message if you have any questions!
