I have owned two coin op Tornado's back in the day. I now find myself wanting a table again. I have found a T-2000 home model about 6.5 hours away for a mere $400. I have also located a Tornado used coin op here locally for $600. I read the article about Shelti and am now considering them. I could also build my own as I have plenty of MDF in stock and enough laminate to make a nice, dark navy blue table. However, I think I would still be out close to 5 bills (or more) after purchasing all the parts and a Tornado playfield.
Any suggestions from you guys as to which way I should go? I don't relish a 6.5 hour one way drive. I haven't seen the coin op as it is on location (scary). I could end up having to buy all new rods/bearings, etc on this one.
All I know, is that, somehow, someway, I am going to fill a void I have in my game room, as well as revive memories of the past. (wish I could find a full set, plus extras of the original Tornado men. The wall shots with them seemed to be so much easier, and more consistant.)
Thanks for the help.

get the coin-op.....experience has showed me one thing...if you cheap out on getting a good table, you will want a good table soon enough. You will end up selling the one you purchased for far less then you should and buy a good one.... it is just seems to be a trend i have noticed with everyone that has purchased a table that i know!
