Title: Where is everybody from?

Hey, djsend, the unconfirmed rumor is that Nationals will be held in Chicago this year (4th of July weekend). I'm sure there'll be a Tornado (more like 100-150 of 'em) in Chicago that weekend.

http://www.foosbars.com lists a bunch of tables in IL, including several in Chicago (some of them have weekly tournaments).

Anyone out there with some connections we need to try and get a large tournament brought to Sam's Town Casino. It already host several Sanctioned Dart and Billiard tournaments including some professional womens billiard tourneys.

I'd guess the odds are pretty good that either Jim W or me (or both) will be there. I did all 3 majors last year, I was thinking about skipping Nats this year but I'm playing pretty good ball right now, if that keeps up I'll probably wind up going. Ask near the end of June and I'll have a better idea. Jim sometimes pretends he's not going to a major, but he always winds up sneaking onto a last minute flight out.

Post by: jimbojoiner on February 24, 2005, 01:25:34 PM: I am from greensboro , North carolina. we have two large tournaments every year the state held at shooters on high point rd and memorial day classic held at the same place, the states are on thanksgiving weekend usually and the memorial day classic is on memorial day weekend...locally we have 3 steady weekly tournament one at clubhouse thursday nights, one at jakes billiards on wednesday night, and one on monday nights in high point at finley's(used to be called chumleys)all these start at 9 pm and are dyp(draw your partner) we always have a good turn out and payback is 100% plus bar lick in based on amount of teams..come out and join us at anyone of these if you are in the area and wanna have fun! email mail me for more info on these tournaments we are trying to get a 4th one going at fusions in high point so we have 2 in each city typically entry fees are five dollars for anyone without a title and ten dollars if you have a title. All skill level are encouraged to attend..how else you gonna get better!? ;D

Do you play on the old wooden-man Jupiter tables or the new Eurosoccer tables? What do you like and dislike about the table you play on?

I wish i could see more MO fossballers here in Missouri. a few bars in Springfield have weekly tourneys but we need them in other parts of the state too.

There are a couple of good venues where you can play - Q's Billiards in Darien, IL (not too awfully far from you) has weekly DYP's and there's also Mullin's Bar in the Wrigleyville neighborhood in Chicago proper - they usually have practices every Tues. evening. Avoid it like the plague, however, if there's a Cubs game going on - it's about 1 1/2 blocks south of Wrigley Field on Clark - forget parking anywhere in the vicinity and be prepared to deal with suburban (no offense!) drunken idiots if you are brave enough to venture into that area.

I hope you make it out to Q's, which really is the best place for you to get the most practice - good tables and excellent players hang out there. You really should try to spar against these folks - this is home to PM's Terry Moore, Tiffany Moore, Tony Bacon, Don Chalifoux, Frank Kronkowski, Pros John Merkel, Rob Pianovski, Mike Belovesick, Don Hines etc, as well as a whole slew of up and coming Rookies who are looking very good. Also there are tornado tournaments every week at the Stratford Inn in Chesterfield, Mo. Also know of a couple bars that have tornado tables. My dad gave me our table he loves the classic 1 goalie instead of three.

Helped write some of the rules for tournament play 30+ years ago (Tornado)
63rd member of WTSA when it was formed.
Can still hobble up to the table and play after 35 years! (and can still walk away a winner more times than looser ;D)
It's still the best SPORT around to play!
