Title: The Term "Foos"

Hello Foosball.com community. I am a rather novice player but I love the sport and I was hoping the experts could clear up an argument for me. I was under the impression that "foos" was synonymous with "dead ball". Whenever there is a dead ball, I announce "foos!" and begin play again. My friend claims that a foos occurs when a player knocks the ball back into the goal immediately after the opponent kicks it. Who (if either of us) is correct? Thanks,

"Foosball" is actually an english(american) phonetic spelling of the german word for football.  The term was "owned" for a while by Patterson International, Inc. as the brand name of a soccer table,  the "Foosball Match" table.  Over the years it has taken over as the generic term for table soccer, in the USA, kind of like "kleenex", or "Bandaid".  But people(players) use the term "foos" for all kinds of things, none of them reaaly right or wrong, as it really has no defined meaning.
