Title: First Foosball table
Post by: Solid on May 19, 2011, 12:47:44 PM
I've been looking for a foosball table for about a month.  We are looking for a good quality table that with decent play that will last.  We are not Pro's, but love to play.  The problem is, we don't want to spend more than $300.  I check craigs list almost daily.  I very rarely see a Tornado, and if I do, it' too expensive.  I do see a lot of Harvard, Goodtime Novelty, Inc. Gibralter, and KT Sports Foosball. I even found a 54" Spartan Sports table close to home for $35.
Are any of those brands worth buying, or am I wasting my time looking for anything other than a Tornado coin-op?
By the way, I am about 60 miles north of New York City is someone knows where to get a Tornado for a good price.

Thanks,
Solid

Not sure how far of a road trip you are willing to take, but here is a coin-op in your price range:

You might want to add "Shelti" to your search list. They are (or at least used to be) equal to Tornado for build quality.

For the right table, we would drive maybe 100 miles, but Atlanta is a little too far.  Good price though.

You might keep your eye out for a warrior.  The quality is not as high, but the playing characteristics are decent.

I would only recommend three tables.  Tornado, Fireball, and Warrior.  Shelti and Dynamo are ok and you might find one of them at or below your price range.  Those other brands you listed would make good firewood on those cold New York nights.

These are all overpriced, so try and work these prices down:

I don't know what the deal is with this one, but for $75 you could part it out and make $$$:

I know everyone here loves the coin-ops.  What about a Tornado Cyclone?  Any opinions?  I found a new one still in the box for sale.  What would be a good price to pay? $500, $400, $300?

Don't be afraid to contact the game vendors that place the tables in bars from your area. They might have one or two sitting around.

Anyone played on a Goodtime Novelty, Inc. Gibralter table?
Someone around here is selling one for $100.  It looks pretty Solid.  Single Goalie though.  Not sure how I feel about that.

I would really stick to the advice already given, it is good solid advice.  Goodtimes Novelty wasn't mentioned by anyone...........for a reason.  If it were me I would be looking at a Tornado, Fireball, Shelti or Dynamo...or possibly a warrior....period.  You are pretty much wasting money other wise.  Garlando or Bonzini are good tables but out of your price range that you are talking about.
