Title: Brush down is a jar?
Post by: Lei on July 05, 2012, 05:19:58 AM
Recently, I was called a jar when I did brush down which made me really confuse.
Brush down is a normal pass used by many players all over the world, it is a jar just because the bumper hits the wall?
What about wall pass, the bumper hits the wall as well.

I tried to find the definition of jar in ITSF rules, but not much info there.
So I'd appreciate if you can give me a list of situations that jar should be called.

Thanks!!

The main purpose of calling a Jar in a match is to prevent an opponent from changing the ball trajectory and thus affecting the ability to cash a ball in play, change a shots trajectory or from making a distraction.

I guess if the referee is going by the book and he's not using any criteria he should be able to call for a jar. But honestly I think it is not because you are in possession of the ball so it doesn't make sense unless you really slam hard on the wall. In that case if I where referee I would make a warning first and if you slam hard on the wall again then I would call a Jar.
