my client wants me to do a coin mech/ pay rig for a "harvard" brand foos unit.
is this possible, and am i gonna get in trouble for asking??

Possible? Yes, I suppose so. Buy a coin mechanism and build a complicated ramp assembly on the bottom of the table.
Good idea? No. I'm assuming he wants to put this table into a commercial environment. Harvard tables are built for home use, barely. A Harvard table with a jury-rigged coin-op mechanism would not last long.
Trouble? Only for you and your client if he goes through with this scheme.

This might be the rare situation where the correct thing to do is also the least expensive....I would start looking at craigslist for commercial foosball tables as you could probably find an older dynamo or similar for less than $200.

Where are you located? I have a Coin Op Tournament Soccer Table that I would sell.
Regards....
