what to do
« on: March 01, 2008, 09:14:51 PM »
hi all! greetings from Minnesota.

I have an older table and I was thinking about putting it on craig's list. I was originally thinking of donating it, but it needs a new playfield, the men are prolly brittle and I have only 1 ball... mebee another under the sofa - so donating would be an expense to the giftee.

Here's the clincher. I was snooping around the internet trying to figure out if it was worth anything & what a starting price or value for it might be. Turns out I think I have a quarter of a million tourney table from 75 or 76, one of 200, a piece of history. now what?  is it junk or a collectible? i just took a few crappy pix and I will get them on a web site someplace. I need to try again in the daylight with close up on- but you'll get the idea.
here are some details.

It has 2 Taiwan stamps inside of the table one above and one below the hinge.
pub style with deactivated coin slot - i think i have all the parts, coin box etc
flip open solid wood cabinet with laminate
    classic blue and red men
1 man goalie on solid, chromed spring loaded rods
banked corners with quarter million dollar tournament table stickers on 2 corners, and tournament soccer in the other 2
    self scoring
smooth glass field -green (with some bubbles)
    over 200 lbs,
its missing the ashtrays and cup holders, there are scuffs and scratches on the legs.. not too much on the table -but its in dire need of a good cleaning. works great! not sticky or bent.

Any thoughts on value and what I should do with it? FOOS museum?
http://www.laweez.com/foos hmm cant get there atm....

thanks & be well - Jeanne

There is really only one answer.  You should restore it and play!  You can still get parts for it online.  Unless your totally through with fossball.   Tell us how you came to have the table in the first place?  Did you play on the TS Tour?

Restore it.. I have 20$ to my name, restoring it is not an option. Selling it for grocery and gas money might be. :o. I also have a bunch of morbidly debilitating diseases and recently had a finger amputated.. I'm sure my skills suck atm. I need to down size my stuff, in my next place I wont have room for this piece of nostalgia.

How I came to possess this table is a rather boring story.. nothing as cool as playing on it in a tournament. In 1975 I was 11, I remember my big brother talking about foos, but I dont think I really played it til I was "of bar age". Funny thing about that was since I had a table at home everyone thought I'd kick butt.. I was never more than a mediocre player. I did have great parties back in the day tho!

It belongs to an ex ex ex ex ex boyfriend. I've always had a place to keep it & so for 20 some years I've been moving it around.  I have asked ex ex ex ex ex to come get it and its still in my foyer ready to pick up. He now has a place to keep it, but apparently no time in a year and a half to pick it up. His mum was in the restaurant service industry, I'm sure she got it thru a work related auction or something.. I'm not really sure on that.

I have put up the pix for the 8th time.. they work now.
if anyone is interested they can be viewed at http://www.laweez.com/photos/thumbnails.php?album=36

You are certainly in the right neighborhood to sell your table.  I have seen other tables like your go for $200 on ebay with out a reserve.  You might want to post your contact info here for those who may be interested.

Boy that brings back memories, maybe around 1974? The blue top came next and that was the best playing table IMO. The brown top was a different animal but good once you got used to it, kinda like these Tornado tables.
