Getting Better
« on: July 14, 2008, 04:29:52 PM »
Hey, I started playing foosball about a year ago with my coworkers at the internship I was in. I'm a kid (19 years old) and I live in Austin, TX and I want to get better at playing foosball, but I have absolutely no idea where I can go play people who are better than me. Not to say that I'm much better than the people I play against, but I play as an equal at both work and school. It'd just be nice to find somewhere I could get in where I could play people phenomenally better than me so that I could learn a thing or two.

I think I'm gonna get a table so I can start practicing and whatnot and try all of the suggestions that are mentioned on this forum, but I definitely do better if I can see things that I could improve on and how to do so. Any suggestions?

there should be a fast eddies in A town somewhere. one of them here in SA not only has a couple tables , but they also have tourneys on wednesdays.

Looking at their website http://www.fasteddiesbilliards.com, the location in Austin does not have foosball, and it seems like the only weekly tournaments here are at Buffalo Billiards and Click's Billiards, both of which don't permit those under 21. Too bad my family isn't into foos.

Buffalo Billiards on 6th (I think) street downtown.  I think they've got a couple of tournaments a week.

I'd totally go down there... except that I'm 19 and, thus, not allowed (or so i assume)

Try sending an email to this guy.

anthonyortega@austin.rr.com

I'm not sure the address is still good.  He's one of the locals.  He can let you know if you're allowed in Buffalo Billiards.  I think they also play at home a lot.  Just get out and try to meet some of the players.

If worse comes to worse, just hang outside by the window and give them that sad puppy look. :-[

Maybe one of them will take you home.

North Clicks on Lamar has DYP's on Tuesday and Thursday, we have a couple of minors that play there, park in the back and go in the back door, the tables are right there next to back door ask for Larry, he's the tournament director or call Clicks at 512-837-4688 and ask for Larry.
You can play at Buffalo Billiards on Wednesday and Saturdays if you come with someone that's 21 or over as a guardian.
