Are there any women's foosball tournaments or get togethers in the metro detroit area? Thanks

Janice,

Most the woman players in that area are traveling today back from Kentucky.  Give this a few days before you give up on us.

Sorry I'm not in the area. What kind of table do you play?

I think it's the American Style Tornado.  I played for the first time in 20 years last weekend and loved coming back to it - just like riding a bike but I do have to work on a few things to master them like in the past.  It was a lot of fun playing competition again.
I can't believe how many different tables there are out there.  As I'm looking into buying one, I saw an 11-per-side Leonhart table football table in Berlin - crazy but sounds like something different to try.

Thanks Ben.  I saw that information but it's from 2008.  I've only been there once but Coyote Station was a great place to play foosball.  I'm all for playing foosball with whoever wants to play but someone mentioned that there might also be a women's tournament in Michigan?  Just curious.

no women's tournaments anywhere in the country that i know of...i mean local weekly tournaments...all the women tournament players play at the weekly DYPs (draw your partners) like everyone else...if they get together behind the scenes it is not well known

if you like the tournament scene and live in the US and you are looking to buy a table, you need to buy Tornado...much written on this subject on the board here

this is sort of the baseline thread on the subject
http://www.foosball.com/forum/index.php?topic=2704.msg12906#msg12906

Warrior has a bigger official tour but their table doesn't hold together well and a Tornado coin op can last your entire life...it is easier to practice on Tornado and move to Warrior than the other way around - see this discussion in the thread below

with that said, MI has some Warrior played on weekly DYP, only place i know of but there might be one or two others accross the country - still i would buy Tornado and just get playing time on the Warrior or if you are one of the lucky few who can find the money and space for two tables, buy both but buy Tornado first

Warrior to Tornado transition

come back with questions any time and keep us updated on how your transition back goes...a number of us on here, myself included, went 20 plus years without playing...look up Old Meister and my early conversations when he was first coming back - heck, i went and found it for you, you would never find it...wonder how OM feels about it today, several years later :D

Thanks bbtuna.  Great information!  I happened to see tournaments at Coyote Station in St. Clair Shores on http://detroit.craigslist.org/ and thought about playing again after 20 years.  It was like riding a bike but I need to work with my pull/push shot to get them back completely.  This place http://www.coyotestation.com/ had friendly people there and top foosball players that night.  Thanks again.
