Could the table handle solid rods?

Hey there,

I'm looking for some input here. My friend and I where discussing my table. It came with hollow rods and they're starting to bend so I was thinking of replacing them possibly with solid rods and he said do ou think your table can handle the solid rods? He thinks there would be to much force (when you move the road quickly all the way in or out and it hits the bumbers, making a "thud" noise). My argument is because they are so heaving, you cannot build up as much speed on such a small distance. The lighter rods would get more speed. I think the impact of both rods would be equal or very similar. its just that the solid rods once they hit make a louder thud and stay imobolised.

What's your take on this?

...also, about my table, Its a harvard table very similar to the Tournament II. About the only difference is the tournament II comes with solid rods and mine didn't. (my apron might be 2 inches shorter also.
(similar to my table)

The rods are hollow for a reason, IMHO I wouldn't put solids rods on the table. I can't see any reason for them unless you want to do chin ups on the 2 bar :)

The rods are hollow for a reason,as RedRazor states. One is that they are faster!(As you know) and that means better reaction time in both offence and defence. There is a difference in hollow rods though. The main difference is the wall thickness.you might check to see if you can replace them with the slightly thicker wall rods.Good luck and happy foosing.

**never mind, I reread someone's reply and it did answer my question. lol....do they usually give you the thickness of the wall rods somewhere?***

My only problem with the hollow rods on my table is that they are REALLY thin and warped with in the first week or so of play. Do all hollow rods bend so quickly and easily? Or are some hollow rods made a little more stiff?
