Foosball insomnia

I need to know, does anyone else find themselves waking up in the middle of the night and then "play" foosball in their mind for the next few hours?

i started playing foosball as an alternative to world of warcraft, which did give me bad insomnia. but come to think about it... i really haven't had much trouble sleeping since getting off the "crack"(warcraft). although i am a expert sleeper, i am not a sleep expert. so i would defiantly look for sleep tips from google or real sleep experts, they will help u as they did me.  my advise would be : Dont lay in bed for to long while not sleeping! u are training ur body to think its ok to be in bed but yet not sleep. clear ur mind, not flood it with competative thoughts that might release adrenaline to work against u. to sleep i tap my feet while counting from 1-10 rinse and repeat. this usually takes enough of my attention where i cant focus on the game.find something that works for u

its seems to me like this is going to be another aspect to ur game. u have thing u do to "get u in the game", now u might have to work on some tools to get ur mind "out of the geme". ur body and mind have to be primed to sleep, not "go mode"

foosball wise how does ur routine go? do u theory craft early thinking of what u will practace, then practice, reflect, practice again, then reflect for the rest of the night or until u practice again? this might keep the flood gates open continuously subconsciously. if u are reflecting while u should be sleeping then mabe u feel like u could have done or thiought more about it(mabe increase ur reflection time to justify sleeping to urself). or mabe cut out reflecting after ur final practice till an hour or so before ur next practice. it seems u have to square away ur reflection time before bed time and tell ur self... ive theorycrafted for an hour or 2 and thats it for today(be content)! then prepare for sleep, leaving the game till tomorrow.

sorry bout ur insomnia! it drove me nuts

I pretty much kick butt in my mind, I'm not tossing and turning but instead am enjoying the sport so much that I obsess about it. I really wasn't seeking help about it, I just wondered if anyone else finds themselves doing the same.

OM,

I have to say that visualization which you describe should be good for your foosball.  My one question is, do you remember to remember those visualizations when you actually go and physically play competitive foosball?  I had to learn to do that... bring my mind back to those kick-butt "viz" moments in the middle of a game.  Then they really helped.  What I forgot before I learned this was, to reach in the memory and remember them, remember the way it felt during practice shooting or passing, and then imprinting it in my consciousness while playing in an actual game.

I hear you 'killa! At first I would practice up a storm and come up with some nice intricacies to mess with the defense and then when it came time to play it was all out the window. Now as I identify my game better, bridging from my 70's game to Tornados, I do go to those things that I practice. And yes, I figure out a lot through visualization or at least cement what I learn in practice. I've read that visualization is almost as good as physical play.

Mister Meister,

I can't say I've had the same experience in terms of foosball, but those times I do wake up in the middle of the night and have something continually running through my head, it's usually because something impactual happened in the recent past, and supposedly the mind never sleeps. I will say that I do some of my best thinking/reflecting in the dead of night, when there aren't any distractions. I am more likely to drift in thought about a hot babe on the beach over foosball, but maybe if I got her on a foos table...giggity, giggity...LOL

Take care....................................Tyler
