Id say just fiddle with the black piece that sits above the pan...it has a little brakaway action when you shoot to accomodate those non limp wristed shots :D...but that piece may be stuck or jammed up, preventing it from thudding or sounding like you are accustomed.  I know the problem...I probably played on that table at a tournament and fired a few deadman snakes on that goal....lol >:(

Actually the goal issue was fixed last night. I had to re-thread 2 screw hole on that particular goal so as the metal plate can be held tightly in place and by doing so/fiddling with it the plastic plate was loosened up. It now sounds like it should.

I was snapping the ball so hard I was denting the metal back-stop so don't you talk to me about woosy shots ok? But as with every other "proper" driving the sound effects must be present to also satisfy the ear's needs   ;)
