im sure your gonna get some better answers on here than mine..im a newby, but it is harder to square off than a pullshot for one.  I not saying it cant be mastered and affective, but there hasnt been a major tournament won shooting one in some time.

It was the first shot i learned, but it was easy too.....I play with a local chould be pro that shoots a nasty push...but its not his only shot and depending on whos blocking not his primary....

if i were giving advice to a new player id say shoot a rollover or pull shot....if your playing tornado...

it is really not a bad shot...certainly not "puss" shot...I think it has the fastest start of all shots and is the most natural especially new players...the only real problem is squaring it off real long as consistently as a pull...if someone could figure out how to overcome the physical limitation and do 17-18 out of 20 1 finger longs all day long (assuming they develop the rest of the shot like all mature shots should be) then you could have a consistently threatening shot

as it is, it is a streaky shot because sometimes that long is on and in competition defenders rarely see it...but, for it to stay true for an entire tournament has proved ellusive

it is a great shot from goalie, especially if you have a decent push kick to go with it...look at what Terry Moore and Billy Pappas can do with a push from back especially in singles

When I first started playing on Tornados I was mad because my push wasn't working. What I found I had to do was to tone it down, relax totally and hold back a little, then it started going faster and harder than I ever did it in the 70's and 80's. It just didn't seem right but that is how it is. Shooting it open handed and holding back. It was my bread and butter shot then and a real good back up now.

My push works the same way hold a little back relax rpi it.can you do a cut shot like a straight it only cut it to the corner?

Do you mean back angle it? Yes, I find it easier to back angle it if I set up slightly behind the bar rather than slightly in front, but that can be done also with the shape of the push lateral movement to position the ball for the kick. But I usually go for the three straight lanes if I'm using it as I only go to it against a defense that shows a weakness for the push. Why use it if they got it covered, go to something else.

Im saying when you go for the straight,but instead its a sharp cut that splits the men, if they are giveing you the dead bar defence.

Either we are talking the same shot or the short (middle) with an angle, and yes that is part of the push series that has to be learned to keep the defense honest.  Basically it's the same with a pull, in reverse and all the holes offered has a shot to get you there. The shot you are talking about is a great way to spread the defense out.

Push Shot is harder to master, as there are more adjustments to make as opposed to mastering other shots. But it can work, just that since there is more risk for misexecution than a Snake Shot, the confident Level drops even more, which makes it not as wise to use, if you are playing the percentages.
