(This will sound a bit rude, though it is not intended to.  I apologize in advance.)

If you're asking for help on rocking the ball on your snake shot, here's my advice.  Don't rock the ball.  It's not that you shouldn't rock the ball, but a beginning snake shooter should spend time learning to execute the shot smoothly.

Shoot it from a static position.  This has a couple advantages.  First, you don't have to worry about losing the ball from a bad rock.  Second, if you rock it ONLY just before you shoot, the opposing goalie knows when you will shoot.  He may not know where, but if I were blocking, I would pick your strong side.

This being said, I DO rock the ball.  I also walk it back and forth across the goal (somewhat poorly right now...I've only been working on this aspect of it for about a month).  I rock the ball sometimes as a fake.  Sometimes I don't rock the ball at all...especially if I have a bad set on it OR I'm playing the "when am I gonna shoot?" card.

Hope this helps.
