Word of advice, buy a tourny-used one from here and save yourself $500.  You'll never know the difference.  I did and we love it.

What table should I buy?

read my post here...it will provide some of what you are looking for

http://www.foosball.com/forum/index.php?topic=2164.0

two things...Tornado is coming out with a brand new model with some fairly big changes...they will be selling "kits" to convert old tables but if you are a latest and greatest person then you will probably want the new table and not convert and previous model...that is up to you and your budget

the new version won't have tournament used tables available for a while - basically not until Tornado runs a tournament since they are basically the only one doing regional and above tournaments on Tornado now that Independent Foosball Promotions (IFP Mary Moore) has gone to Warrior

so this sort of complicates the buy depending on what you are looking for...transition from current Tornado to Warrior is very fast, hours by most accounts so you can practice on T and still play at Warrior tournaments which will be most tournaments going forward (Tornado is talking about going from 2 tournaments to 4 next year but we will see even that is a small number compared to Warrior/IFP)

Warrior...very very high % postive response on playability and the ball is crazy good...much different than Tornado - some great design ideas but the build quality on the first run is not at Tornado standard and the only table available, and is the "tournament" table, is a high-end home model...weighs much less than T and even though it is more stable by design, the weight difference is noticable in play

the other major difference, but shouldn't keep anyone from buying the table either way, is that the Warrior is using a single goalie with ramps as opposed to Tornado with 3 men on the goalie rod no ramps

Table cost much less so there is that to consider also

Last, to complicate things a little more, the new Tornado table coming out with new men, balls, and side-strip will play very close to the same as the Warrior so the play difference is almost zero now outside of the goalie rod...the man design I think is better with Warrior but in the end I am not sure how much difference it will really make

tournament foosball is in a transition right now so table choice isn't as simple as it has been in the past

Tornado still makes the best built table, regardless of its past or current issues, but most tournament action, and the best run tournaments (for now) are on Warrior and the Warrior table is geting super high marks for playability to compare apples to apples no discounts, brand new Warrior around $900 brand new Tornado Coin Op around $1500..shipping much higher on Tornado because of how it is packaged and weight difference

I am sure none of this helps with a decision and that is because I am a bit torn personally with where everything is at...I want the new Tornado in a lustful way and I want the new Warrior for the same reason

if I had the money and space, I would own both but I am mortal and will probably by the kit for my Tornado and do my best to win a Warrior at the upcoming MO States

now, what are you going to do?

well now that im thoroughly confused...... i grew up playing on ts tables with the one goalie so i really like that idea, but tornados are really well built. i wonder if anyone knows how soon warrior will come out with an updated model? also being 51 years old im probably only going to play in local tourneys and i would like this purchase to be my last.

Didn't Tornado showcase a 1 goalie module of their current Tournament table? I coulda sworn I saw that on a video on youtube or this week in foosball or somewhere.

tornado did premiere a one man goalie but choose not to use it (at least in the US...no word on a Euro only model which would make good marketing sense to have 1 man but would confuse ITSF tournaments)

well, I am 51 also and either table will last as long as you will play most likely...for now, all but one or two locals are still held on Tornado...most will probably keep old Tornados in use and the few will probably do the kit and a rare few will replace probably with the new Tornado

Warrior is not going to take that primary position in local DYP's unitl, or if, they have a coin-op since 99% of the DYP's are at commerical locations

so, you should probably go with Tornado...if money is not an object, get the NEW NEW table and be on the cutting edge...if money is an issue, that is a different discussion...if you end up at a Warrior tournament you will need to plan a little adjustment time but by all accounts that transition is very very slight for most people and after the new T design changes and new ball are in place it will be even less transition

there, does that help?

ClearScreen very alertly noted this...  hope it helps...

Valley-Dynamo has just updated their website with the new Tornado Commercial and Home table.  Here is a link to the Commercial table:

I wonder if this means that the update kit is now available.

Wow.  Someone actually listened to me.  Now if I only could figure out how to get my kids to listen...

Seriously, congratulations and keep us up to date.  I am especially curous about the 2009 Update Kit as Tornado has been very slow to make these available.

Got my new, used, worlds table yesterday. they didnt have the original one i wanted for $100 off so i got one for $150 off. I am very pleased with it the scuffs and scratches are very minimal. They shipped it thursday from nc and i got it friday in pa. It doesnt have the updated guys balls or handles yet, but i got all the emblems, edge guards, scorekeepers and hole plugs. I heard the newer tables were made a lot cheaper, but i dont really see it. it came with new balls, bearing wrech, 2 extra guys, roll pins. Im sitting here now waiting for the grout to dry on my tile floor so i can set it up properly. I'll let you know when i get the rest of the update kit. P S its great to hear foosballs smashing into the goal in my house again.
