hi everyone, ive been lurking here for a good long while and i wanted to say you have a nice forum. its very informative and you guys have a ton of info. i love playing and was very addicted in college. played all the time on a Million Dollar Game that was pieced together and barely held together with duct tape! very fun times that i miss. regardless, i was going to buy my younger cousin a table for xmas. he has never really played and i did not want to spend a ton on him. i found a table on local craigslist, but i have no idea what kind of table it is. i have tried to attach a pic, hopefully it works. anyone have a thought? the guys selling it says its fairly old but is in immaculate condition.  he also said its not a total piece of crap either.

It will be fine for a kid, and I think a foos table for him is a great idea. If he decides that he really likes it and wants to get into it down the road make sure you recommend tornado or warrior.
don't spend more than 50 bucks. new it probably cost 400. but used tables are a dime a dozen. I got a similar one for free off craigslist once.

Lovely looking TS bluetop home model or clone.  Problem is, you know that that table looked like that back in 2002, about 6 years and 9 months ago! If that IS the table the vendor is selling, or perhaps that's just a representative picture ?? Looks fishy to me...

Even with the graininess, you can see the rust on several rods, which means you may have to replace them, unless you have metal plating capability in your workshop.

thanks for the responses everyone. i was hoping that the date on the pics was from someone not knowing how to set the date on their camera! but who knows, maybe they took the pics a long, long while ago and just decided to post it for sale....... 6 years later!!!!

i did notice some rust on the rods, i figured i would check it out if i went and looked at. is there no use in scrubbing them with some iron wool? as i said before, this will be one of the first times he has even played foos so he will not need anything made for performance/tournament quality.

on another note, all this foosball reading has me itching to get back into it. i might have to get a table for myself too. if i was going to get one it would have to be a tournament soccer/million dollar game like the one i had in college. also it would have to be a one man goalie. i cant seem to find a new TS with a one man goalie, do they make those??

Rust on the rods destroys and eats the bearings.  Not good.  No matter how much silicone you apply.

For yourself, the closest you'd probably get, quickly, to a TS-style, single-goalplayer table with TS-style ball control would be a Warrior.  Solid rods, too.  And one fooser has 14 of them he won in several foosball tournaments.  He's the one of those selling those brandnew tables for way less than the $600 retail.

And the Warrior's dimensions are pretty close to a Tornado, which has dominated the US foos landscape for almost 15 years.  Which means you'll not quite have the same ball control and single goal player configuration from your TS days, but you should be able to adjust to modern day foos locals pretty quickly.
