It's kind of weird but one kid from Denmark wraps his wrist with a spare wrap and then wraps the handle when playing.
Our own "Shanghai" Fred Gower does the same thing.. seems to work for him.
You should be able to find those Ace bandages just about anywhere. It's those ones that are elastic. Then just sew a leather patch to it.
Seems a lot more trouble than going to Target, KMart, Sports Authority, Champs, or Walmart sporting goods and buying a pair of wide receiver or running back football gauntlets for $5 to $6 a pair in the "Clearance" aisles. I got Rawlings ones for $5 with its patented GRIP STRIPE used to maintain a grip on the pigskin even with bone-jarring impacts, even in rain or mud, and I now have had the best protection for years, from ripping my wrist's insides, from losing grip or control, with or without wraps. The overall material wicks the sweat away, keeps your wrists warmed up for both rollover AND closed or open hand shots, and prolly much cheaper than breaking down to get some leather, buy a pair or wristbands, and take the half hour (good tailor) or 2-5 hours (10 thumbs) to sew a leather or rubberized patch onto it.
For some "contoured" gauntlets, I put it on narrow end first, so the wider end is over the lower part of my hand. Some have foam padding on the other side away from or opposite the GRIP STRIPE, which I use a little penknife or razor to destitch in about 1 minute. Otherwise it's ready in seconds, you can wear it all day and night, and it's easily washable.... the high tech GRIP STRIPE takes years to lose tackiness. Also helps to go to any foos venue with the grip rolled up on the wrist to look like any common Prince, Rawlings, Head or Spaulding wristband, and never again getting that "Oh, one of those...." looks from the bar or venue opponents. Y'know.... that look when you pull out the gloves and/or wraps for a SILLY li'l game o' fooz...
If you're in Europe or other place besides North America, you can also use the soccer goalkeeper gauntlets, with basically the same construction. Extremely and very stupidly simple. Perfect for the typically lazy human foosist. And I haven't missed hunting and trying products out for having good wraps, nor the expense. Although I do still use wraps at majors or superregionals or locals, where the combined grip and consistency is above excellent. Science is the key. Dumb Science ...
