Player of the Year for 2008
Marc Gilbert
Mr. Gilbert was too receive this award last year. Marc is one of the important pioneers of the AQBB and now Quebec Foosball. He's always been a helpful resource and friend to me personally and to Bonzini U.S.A. His outstanding leadership and love for the Bonzini style of play and it's growth made his an easy choice for our selection committee.
Player of the Year for 2009
Laurent Paquin-Marcotte
Laurent is a rare bread of young player that has a thirst for learning all aspects of the game. His graduated success on the Bonzini U.S.A. Foosball Tour has made him a respected player amoung all. If there is one attribute that stands out is his RESPECT for the game and for those that work hard to preserve it. If I ever have any regrets in the game it will be not being able to provide enough opportunities for players like Mr. Paquin-Marcotte to excel. I consider him to be one of our brightest stars in the near future. I am greatful for his support and friendship as well.
2009 Bonzini U.S.A. Excellence Award winner
Mr. Bobby Brown
There are not enough words to tell everyone how Mr. Robert Brown has changed foosball in South Carolina for the better. We share similar philosophies that are the foundation for creating and maintaining the Bonzini U.S.A. Foosball Tour. It's those values and his committment to elevating his players skill levels that make him an iconic figure in the SC foosball world. He will be quick to add that he is supported by the likes of Jim Corbett, Rebecca Terry and Jacob Harley. All who are deserving to share this award also. I congradulate Bobby for being the 2009 Bonzini U.S.A. Excellence Award winner.
Brigade Boy's and Girls Club donation: $3.400.00 and a new foosball table to be delivered in a few weeks.
Steve Hebert (Owner of Break Time Billiards)- Without a doubt the best person I've had the honor to work with on a golf and foosball tournament project. It's an uncommon relationships where we both know what is needed from each other and how best to get the message across without having to constantly speak to each other. Each year gets better and better at Break Time Billiards. How many players do you know of that would drive 18 hours if it wasn't a great location and event?
John Hayes(RP foosball pioneer)- Maybe we all have foosball legends we would like to meet. Well, John Hayes was mine. John was a mythical player back in 1974 when I began playing. I would hear stories about his tournament victories and rule of the roost in the VA Beach area. I met John back in 2001 briefly and had the pleasure of eating breakfast and hearing the tells of the early 70's foosball scene this past weekend. With his signature safely in my World Alamanac of Table-Soccer, I have fulfilled one of my foosball quest. Dr. John, thank you for making the journey to Wilmington and for your friendship as well.
