What a topic for discussion. I've been playing for 35 years. Started out playing on an American table at the club house where I lived. A year later I moved to the South side of Houston and played at a friends mostly. He had a brand new 76 Dynamo. Then I started playing at game rooms sometimes. Eventually after moving to the North side of Houston I began playing in local game room singles and DYP's. Finally I started playing on Tornado and playing tour events in the early 80's. In the early years I did toes and pulls from forward. Banks, pushes, and pulls from goalie. When I started playing the local tournaments I kept doing what I had always done. I was fairly successful, winning a few expert events through the 80's. In 89 I was rooming with my best friend and we went in on a big house with 3 other guys and we all played foos. WE had a Tornado and played every day. At the time I did not know what I know now. One of my room mates was Ronnie Lewis. He taught me the importance of the 5 bar game and showed me how to refine and smooth out my pull shot. I quickly became pro.
I have to go now, I will finish writing this story later and give my opinion on the topic.
Sorry to leave you hanging.
