Table spec and location question
« on: February 26, 2006, 01:43:19 PM »
Hello, I need some experienced table owners to help me out please.  First, I am thinking about buying a new cyclone II from a dealer on Ebay for $850.00, in Houston, Tx.  He lists the table dimensions as L: 55.5''  w:30''  H:36''.   Well I want a table as close to a coin-op as I can get and Valley-Dynamo lists the t-2000's and coin-ops as having a length of 56''.  But Valley-Dynamo also lists their cyclone II's as having the same 56'' length.  I wonder if the store on Ebay is mistaken or are their different maybe cheaper versions of the Cyclone II.  I would like the table I buy to be the "real deal".  Also When I get a table I was thinking about putting it in the garage.  I would have the garage door closed most of the time and I would get a cover for the table.  My question is would the garage be a safe location for it as far as moisture damage and so forth, because I definately will not put it there if there is any risk, kind of a big investment you know.  Also I should mention Im about to move so It would only be in the garage for maybe 3 months at the most, 1 month at least.  I will be putting it inside an apartment after that.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

Tx, This is only my opinion.. If you want a table that is close to tournament style and as close to coin-op as possible i would opt for a Tornado Storm II or T2000 non-coin op. I think you would be dissappoionted in the play of the cyclone to either of those two models...

Hope this helps

Really?  I wish there was a place where I could try them all.  I have read on a few web sites that the cyclone II was the the best home model, just like a t2000 or coin-op but without the opening cabinet and the Cyclone's lighter.  But I haven't played on either the storm or cyclone.  The web sites say the storm doesnt have split bearings and has a bit thinner rods.  Good news is that the Storm is a bit cheaper but the T2000 is too expensive 4 me.  Thanks for the input though snake I'll have to look around for a storm to play on.

I have bought 6 tables in the last 6 months on ebay, and my most recent purchase is a Coin-op t2000 its been used maybe 3 months- 4months. Got it for 750 in Houston...don't rush and keep your eye out on ebay, it won't take long and you can get exactly what you want...Luck!

The Cyclone is a much better table, the storm has the crappy snap-in bearings while the Cyclone is pretty much identical to the tournament table except for weight and heat-treated 2-rods.

The cyclone is more than sufficient to get you to a good tournament level, I use one and have no problems adjusting to coin-ops (really the difference between the coin-ops between years is bigger than the difference between a cyclone and coin-op of similar vintage, as long as you put some heavy weights on the legs of the cyclone to anchor it).

Good choice, i've had a storm a whirlwind, a cyclone and a t2000 now, the Cyclone was the best compared to the t2000.  Hope you enjoy it!
