Tornado vs Shelti for starting
« on: November 20, 2013, 12:19:18 AM »
Hello,

Looking at buying a table. I am more of a beginner but would like to make an investment that will last (I like buying quality things that I keep forever). This table is also for my young sun (11).
I am reading that Shelti tables might be better for beginners because you have more control. I read that Shelti is in between American and French style, would that be a better mix if you don't play tournaments ?. Is that true ? Is it better to start with Shelti for beginners / younger players ? or you would recommend to get a Tornado (prices are relatively similar, only difference I could find is Shelti has counter balanced men on their cheaper table)

Thanks much for your help
Yves

If prices are similar then get a Tornado, it will with stand the test of time and wear and tear, as well as prep any beginner for the next level (tournament play) without the culture shock of dealing with the unique characteristics that come with other brands.

The Shelti does not play like a cross between Tornado and a French table.
Not even close. I own both.
Shelti plays more like a Warrior or Fireball.
