Playing field material
« on: May 16, 2015, 01:31:22 PM »
Just built my own table, but having trouble finding the best material for the surface. Would like something textured similar to a Tornado, or my first table, a Challenger. Last step in the process. Looking for input.

considerations

best is a real one - http://shop.foosball.com/surface-tornado-coin.html

http://thaifoosball.com/index.php/Table-1/custom-tables.html

home depot samples of:
http://www.arborite.com/en
http://www.formica.com/en/us/homeowner-products

myself I'd look for a donor parts table with regulation dimensions ... shelti or tornado ...

Thanks for the input. I would like an original Tornado, but seems a little pricey. Tables that can be parted out are rare here, and go real fast. I originally used a product like the arborite you suggested but it seems a little slow. Thanks again. I will keep looking.

I would not hesitate on the Tornado CoinOp Regulation Playfield... It is best for a number of reasons.  Also consider buying it from this site as they have provided this forum for us to communicate, good pricing, and great service for me!

shipping issues and/or delays could be and issue with these but here is some more ideas:

As far as used tables go in my area (northwest)... every once in a while on craigslist a dynamo 3man, shelti 100 200, older warrior 2004, or whirlwind type table pops up for a good price.  I think if you are savvy or if the table is damaged somehow it will cost between $50 and $300 to get something decent.  Factor in other salvage parts such as counter balanced men, handles, rods, and bushings and it might make total sense.  At least with these you end up with a table closer to standard with a more acceptable texture and the painted reference markings.

Video and post the bon fire for us when you burn the cabinet and I'll send you $20

oh ya, the folks at wts might have some older 3man surfaces as well...
