Need a little help
« on: April 07, 2020, 03:16:05 PM »
I'd like to get a very high quality table, but I have a couple of apparently unusual requirements.
# 1 I'd like one goalie with ramped corners. I'm sick of balls bouncing off the two side goalies into the goal.
# 2 I'd like EITHER end ball returns or dual side ball returns, but not a single side ball return.

The Tornado T 1000 can't do # 2
The Tornado Elite and Sport can do # 2 but apparently can't do # 1.
The Tornado Classic can't do either.

What do you recommend?

You can get plastic ramps for the corners and stoppers to replace the wingers on the goalie row. I also used to be bothered by the 3 man goalie but it fades very quickly and I learned to actually like the three man goalie even more. Tornado does sell an single man goalie but you probably wont find a used one.

These are not specifically for Tornado but I sure would work just fine.

Says available in one or three man goalie configurations.

Yes, I see the conversion kits and can readily do that. No problema.

But I understand the dual side ball returns on the elite go to the wrong side, i.e. they go to the side of the person who just scored. That makes it very hard to play our favorite game- two ball.

Can anyone with an Elite verify if that is true? Because if it is it looks like I'm stuck with nothing better than a sport with a conversion kit.

And yes, I've been playing on a table with a 3 man goalie (an older whirlwind) for the last 6 months. I still don't like them. I much prefer ramps and a single goalie.

They do return to the side of the person that just scored... at least on the Youth Development Table (which Im almost positive is the same as the elite). Its set up like that for practice reasons... two people can practice/warm up on the 5/3 bars at the same time. If you have any woodworking tools/skill set you can modify the ramp system to flip the return to the other side.

Another option - get an old tournament soccer table on FB or CL for like $100. It doesnt play quite like a Tornado but if you like playing oddball games it might not matter that much if all you want is the fast paced multiball chaotic format.  Tornado does not offer a table that meets all your needs.
