Topic: 90s coin op vs T3000

Hello,

I’m choosing my first table and I’m having a tough time figuring out the differences between 2 models. My ideal choice is a black Tornado T3000 coin operated table but I found a refurbished black “90s coin operated” Tornado table at a much better price. I haven’t been able to find information on how a 90s coin operated tornado, which doesn’t seem to have a model name associated with it, differs from a new/used T3000.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Older coin op is probably a T2000, they were brown marble first, then grey marble, but some were wood grained (blonde)
They will play very similarly, especially if you're not a pro/expert. Older tables will probably have:

- wooden handles instead of new plastic handles - wraps can solve this (~$60 for 8 new handles)

- white ramped side strips instead of new clear flat playfield side strips - ball does not hop up as much coming off the wall, easier wall passes/bank shots (~$30 easy fix)

- thicker bearings instead of newer thinner bearings updated to better defend wall passes (~$50 for a full set of bearings)

- slightly different guy foot style, new style have sharper corners (this can be expensive about $6 per guy but you really do not need to update them or can just update shooting rods

In addition to the above post, older tables just play different than newer ones. Newer tables feel almost springy compared to old ones. Not necessarily better or worse, just different. Unless you are planning on competing at a high level on the pro tour, it won't make a difference.
