The YAHWEH Children’s VillageSorry for the late results. It was a great week for the tournament sponsors and players. We kicked the event off with a golf tournament on Wednesday October 11th at the Cape Links and Racquet Club. Foosers George Kelly and Alan Cribbs teamed with George Kelly Sr. and Richard Giley to shoot -15 under to take top honors. We had a lot of local support from the non-foosin community that really made this golf outing fun. We even got to chase an alligator off the fringe at the closing hole.
The foosball tournament itself ran extremely smooth. Our U17 participants got their pictures in color on the back of the local Saturday morning sports page and were instant celebs for the remainder of the weekend. In the end, we saw Jim Parris and Mack Smith continued their hot streat by taking the Open Doubles titile. Rick Owens played steady throughout Open Singles to close out Tim Alberts in the finals. Sam Crockett took out Buddy Burchette in Expert Singles. Buddy bounced back to take Expert Doubles with Chris Hayes, both members of the Winston-Salem Foos Force. Tony Shifflett teamed with Lisa Tolley to grab the Novicew Doubles crown. Mark Beal fought off Adam Godwin of the Cape Fear Hurricanes to earn the Novice Singles title. We had 8 great teams in Mixed Doulbe with Lisa Tolley and Bruce Nardoci coming out on top. But Lisa was not finished. She teamed with Doris Little adding the Women's Double title also.
With the combined golf and foosball event, we were able to raise
$1,540.00 for the
YAHWEH Children's Village. I want to thank the players for their assitance with our 1st time participants and for keeping the tournament room clean. Our sponsors were impressed with the excitement and atmosphere generated during the foosball event.
