Topic: question about bearings, maybe a problem.

Hi all, I have a question about the bearings on my new Storm II table.  A couple of them seem to "stick" a little.  That is, the outside part squeezes in too much and grabs the rod a little bit.  If you push the rod through (from the non handle side obviously) so end of the rod goes inside the bearing, when you then push the rod out you can see the bearing spread a little, and of course feel this in the rod.  So it rubs.  Only a couple do this, on the rest the rods do not even seem to touch the bearings on the outside part and the rod has some movement in it.  I assume that is the normal proper bearing, correct?

I'm sure my dealer would not have a problem getting me a couple new bearings if they need to be replace.  Or is it something else?  Can I fix this?  Something about the bearing not seated properly?  (it seems seated the only way it can go).

Can anyone help me with how the rods are suppose to fit into the bearings?  I have not had a chance to go by me dealer yet, and Id sure like some more info before I do.

Is there some "play" in the rod on the outside, or does the bearing grip the rod?

Try to loosen the bearings first if you have them to tight that may cause your problem! Otherwise you will need some new bearings.

thanks biggame, whats the best way to loosen them - they are circular on the inside and the outside has the sort of compressible sections in a circle.

I think the storm uses snap-in bearings so you can't really loosen them.

it does use snap in bearings - and upon further inspection I think i see what the problem is.  It appears a couple bearings came installed incorrectly.  On the inside there are a couple notches in the table around the bearing hole, and a couple protrusions on the inside of the bearing that go into the notches.  It appears that the tight bearings are NOT properly seated into the notches, but instead slightly rotated.  This has caused a couple dings under the bearing edge on the inside where it pressed into the table instead of fitting into the notches.  I was able to get one bearing slipped in a little, and rotated the proper orientation.

The bearing compressible side (outside) seems to have some memory, so it's still squished in a little onto the rod, but much better than it was.  I'm sure my dealer will get me a few new bearings, but I'm not sure it's worth removingmen to replace these if I can get them re-oriented properly.

I cannot see to compress the outside of another improperly seated bearing and my fingers are killing me.  Any tips on compressing this in order to push it in a little?
