I love all the in depth analysis but success is defined by two words... "We won".

A great player once told me, "A goalie's most important job is to block that 5th point".

Anything before that is just showing off.

Block so well that your forward feel confident that you will block a higher percentage of the opposing forward's shots than his own shots will be blocked. This will make him play better, more relaxed and perhaps even put the fear of God in the opposing goalie. If you feel a surge of pride and accomplishment after your victory, you are a successful goalie. Drink one beer and repeat.
