How would I knock out a tightly bound pin for replacing a man?

What would be the solution to getting a pin out that is tightly bound to the rod? I've got all the materials for replacing a man, but it seems that the manufacturer has made the pin super tight, which means that striking it with even a regular hammer does not budge it. What would the solution be here?

It is most likely the pin is broken and holes in man are not aligned perfectly with holes in rod.
Have you tried knocking pin out from both sides?
Are you using correct size punch?
Is punch not staying aligned with pin as you strike with hammer?
